Miguel has been serving as a Save the Michaels Team Leader in a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) project in collaboration with the Erie County Holding Center and BestSelf Behavioral Health.
“As a Recovery Coach, I assist the participants in identifying errors in thinking. We develop coping skills, and relapse prevention plans, and help them understand and practice more effective communication skills. I also assist the participants in developing pre- and post-release goals and reintegration back into the family unit. We work on developing impulse control with daily practice. By nurturing and preparing the participants with this information and these tools, we are equipping the participants for a much greater path to success.”
