Good Samaritan Education Campaign

On Thursday May 2, 2013 a news conference was held at the Evergreen Commons. The purpose of this conference was to kick off a public campaign in Buffalo to educate New Yorkers about overdose and encourage people to call for emergency help immediately in he event of an overdose. The "911 Good Sumartian" Education Campaign follows passage of New York's "911 Good Sumartian" Law which encourages people to call for emergency help immediately in the event of an overdose.

The conference was Sponsored by the "Drug Policy Alliance".

Save the Michaels of the World, Inc was representated by founder and President, Avi Israel, Vice President Philip Luzio, Secretary Tricia Mcdonald, and member Cheryl Placek. Avi Israel and Tricia Mcdonald spoke as parent advocates who lost their children.

Representing the New York State Legislature were Senator Mark Grisanti, Assemblymen Sean Ryan and representives from Senator Tim Kennedy Office.

Many people died because someone was affraid to call for help fearing they would be arrested. This law protects people from proscecution when they call 911 for emergency help. Lives can be saved.
